Dozens of Big Bend High School sporting events have been postponed or canceled by a incoming winter storm which is set up to bring a mix of rare winter conditions to the area.
With incoming weather bringing potential mixes of snow, sleet, ice and freezing rain to the area, Leon County schools are releasing students early on tuesday Leon and surrounding counties such as Gadsden, Madison, Jefferson and Taylor they will close schools on wednesday.
Wakulla County has not yet announced whether schools will close Wednesday.
The football district tournaments are still set to start this week, with Tuesday and Wednesday’s games now pushed back to Thursday at the earliest.
Some games were moved to Saturday to accommodate the incoming weather system.
Basketball games are being rescheduled or canceled as the final few weeks of the regular season break with incoming snow.
Schools are expected to reopen on Thursday, with games currently scheduled for that day expected to go ahead as planned.
